Girls Trip to Cancun

My beautiful Mother, sisters and I went to Cancun about a month ago.  I can't tell you how amazing it was.  When we were little, my Mom promised us if we got our Young Womanhood Award, we could go on a girls trip.  A couple years later (more like 10 years later, yep I'm that old), we went on this promised girls trip. We were so excited.  All we could think of was....beach...sun....books...beach....get tan....and virgin Pina Coladas.

It didn't start out that great.  We met at the airport and went to check-in to get our tickets.  I went to scan my passport (that I hadn't looked at since I'd been on my honeymoon), and guess what? It still had my maiden name on it!  My dad had booked the flight under Davies (as he should have), but I had forgotten to go update my passport to say Davies after I got married.  It seemed really stressful at the time (I thought I was going to ruin our girls trip). Jason was nice enough to drive back to the airport with our marriage certificate, which solved all the problems....or so we thought...

We got through security and went to wait for our flight from SLC to Dallas, TX.  The flight was supposed to leave at 12:15 pm.  But to our dismay, we watched as the flight got pushed back to 3:15 pm, then 10 minutes later, it was pushed back to leave at 5:15 pm.  There was no way we were going to wait that long, so we went back out to the lady who had helped me with my passport problem.  She searched and searched for other flights we could take, but there weren't any good options.  So we went back through security to wait for our flight to take off at 5:15.  After an hour of waiting, we looked again and our flight was pushed back to 7:00 pm.  We marched back out to the same lady (she promised she wasn't sick of us), and searched for more options.  She got us on a 4:45 pm flight to Dallas (and yes, we went through security a third time!) The 4:45 pm flight made us miss our connecting flight to Cancun. That meant that when we got to Dallas, we would have to spend the night without our luggage in a crappy hotel. (We will never have another layover in Dallas...their weather is CRAZY!)  We made the best of it, got some crappy hotel food and watched "27 Dresses."  The next morning, we woke up super early, got a cab...with a really hard to understand man with a THICK accent who sang really loud the whole time and overcharged us.  We didn't care though, because getting on another flight meant we were going to be in CANCUN soon!

This is how we felt when we got to Dallas...tired and ornery!
After getting to Cancun, the rest of the trip was amazing.
1. We laid on the beach every single day.
2. We read books, drank Coca Lite (WAY better than Diet Coke here)
3. We ate quesadillas with Oaxaca cheese (YUM), guacamole and pico de gallo for lunch.
4. We walked on the beach.
5. We shopped at Zara.
6. We saw a movie (Snow White & the Huntsman). Mom and Jamie hated it...it was okay...kinda weird.
7. We got McDonalds ice cream cones every night.
8. I spent some quality time with my sisters and mom (much needed!)
9. We ate tacos al pastor.  AMAZING TACOS that we haven't eaten since we lived in Mexico.  I can't describe how delicious they were.
10. We ate at Italiannis, a restaurant my family used to always go to in Mexico.
11. Only a couple bad things happened: Jenny and I got FRIED the second day...like the worst I've ever been fried.  It was painful to sleep for the rest of the trip.  And the worst part was I was burnt in splotches.  You could see finger marks where I was trying to rub in the sunscreen. The other thing was that my stomach wasn't used to the food and I got a little sick. Not bad though!

It was a much needed vacay with my Mom and sisters and can't wait for our next one.  Let's go to Tahiti this time eh Mom? :) Love you guys. So glad I got to spend this time with you!

Pictures from the Trip (I'm sorry, there are a ton, but I wanted to remember everything!)
