Trip to San Diego!

I keep a calendar on my work desk, right by my computer. At the end of every month, I tear off that paper with the month that has past. I feel like I'm tearing off another month every day now. I feel like it was just February, just March. But HELLO, here is May. It's a scary thing. I remember being 16, sitting in my room, thinking, "When am I going to be out of high school?" Then I wake up what feels like, a week later, and I'm married, graduated from college, and working at KSL. I'm a grown-up! Just is crazy sometimes to think where the time has gone.

Anyway, in February, for my b-day, Jason surprised me with a trip to Oceanside, Cali. I was so excited! It was something to look forward to, 5 days just to hang out with Jas. Sounded like paradise to me! We flew out there on Valentine's Day, excited to enjoy a few days, just Jas and I. (This post may be picture overload, but I want to remember the details!)

We were all done going through security, and we saw random people getting frisked.  Jason kept saying "We already went through security, why do they have to search people again?" I said "Just try not to look suspicious Jas!" Next thing we know, one of the security guys is pointing to Jason to get an extra frisk. I told Jas it was because he is tall! I hurried and snapped a pic.

So excited to be on vacation!

We had some time to kill before we could check-in to the hotel. So we grabbed some Mexican Food, (Jason loves his breakfast burritos), and went to see Safe Haven (it was Valentine's Day you know.) I liked it a lot. Anything with Tad Hamilton in it, is alright by me.

The beach down from where we stayed had a long pier, about a mile out over the Ocean.  We walked out to the end almost every night. It was beautiful.  At the very end of the pier, was Ruby's Diner, a delish burger restaurant, with the best shakes I've ever had. We spent Valentine's Day eating delicious burgers, sharing an oreo shake, while staring out at the Ocean.

Valentine's Day Attire.

The beautiful view we had!

Running on the beach is one of my absolute favorite things!
One night, we ate coconut shrimp at the Crab Shack, just off the Arena. There were the biggest yachts, I've ever seen! There was the prettiest sunset and delicious food.

Reading on the beautiful beach!
Jas didn't really want to go (he hates amusement parks.) He did it for me!
Universal Studios!
Jurassic Park!
The things we did to entertain ourselves in line!

Our good friend Richard
One of the best parts of our vacation was meeting this nice man. His name was Richard.  Jas & I had read about this amazing place to have brunch.  We read that if you don't get there before 9am, that you would be waiting at least an hour. We got there at 9:05(oops). After about 15 minutes waiting, they sat us at the bar, next to Richard. He knew everyone at that worked at the restaurant, all the waitresses and cooks. He kept telling the waitresses how pretty they looked, and how they glowed. Everyone loved him.  He turned to me and said "Wow, you must be an actress. Those colors look amazing on you."  We got into talking and he came here every single day for breakfast. His wife had passed away a few years before.  He told us that he met her on an airplane. She was a stewardess. She kept bringing him coca cola's. By the time they landed, he had to pee so bad, she had to walk him off the plane to the bathroom. He showed us a picture of her in his wallet. He was the sweetest old man. Fought in war his whole life, climbing up the rung and becoming a general. His life story was amazing. We were getting ready to leave and asked for the check, but Richard had already paid for it. We said "Richard, you didn't have to do that?" All he said was, "Do what?" "I don't know what you are talking about." He also paid for another person's check (a marine who he had met the day before).  Experiences like these make me want to be a better person. When you meet someone, who makes you want to make the world a better place. Next time I go to Oceanside, I'm going to go to that place to look for Richard, and also to have the amazing banana nut french toast!

The trip was amazing, and I'm so grateful to Jason for taking me on it. Love you Jas!
